Check out this story from the local CBS station in Los Angeles: Bratty kid throwing a temper tantrum + overly indulgent/reactive parents = potentially deadly cliff rescue. Idiotic parents and bratty kids are a self-perpetuating cycle (no, I'm not a parent, but 12 years in public education has helped me to form this snobby opinion).
