Not MIA exactly...

Despite my intention to NOT be involved in a heavy schedule of work-related activities this summer, an opportunity came along that I couldn't pass up.

A new series of Math Endorsement courses begins today, so I'll be spending 45 hours IN MATH CLASS this week... I know, I know, you're all so jealous!

Then I'll get to do it again for a week in July, and then EVERY Monday evening during the school year, and then for two more weeks (45 hour-courses each week) next summer - wheeeeeeeee!

But THEN I'll have Math Endorsement on my teaching license, which opens up more classroom opportunities. Also, adding endorsements to our licenses is the only way we can raise our pay as teachers. Due to budget constraints, many districts have frozen "step" increases, so there's no incremental pay increases according to years of experience. There are still "lane" increases for additional education/endorsements. I already am at Master's degree plus 20 units AND have two endorsements, so really the only way to increase my salary at all is to complete another endorsement program.

I like teaching math, so I'm nerdily excited to be starting 270 hours of graduate-level course in math... yes, really! But, the blogging will probably slow down a bit for a while. I'll keep you posted on my progress... maybe you can help me with some homework???

WOW!

I was about to create a menu post for the coming week when I realized that I have 499 published posts. I quickly checked to see if anything is scheduled for the coming week - nope; apparently I am falling down on the job. So, that means I have reached post number

Wow... it's pretty hard to believe! The only thing that could be better would be if the SquattyWombat were here to celebrate with me. I DID IT, MOM! Miss you....

30 in 30 - check!

With this post, I can say "I did it!" I posted every day during the month of November, thereby succeeding at NaBloPoMo! Of course, I forgot to ever actually register at the NaBoPloMo site, so won't be getting any props there, but this was for my OWN satisfaction anyway.  Hopefully daily posting has become enough of an ingrained habit that I'll be able to continue.

Announcing...

The RECIPES tab, now live on the blog! I finally gathered up "all" (like, all 30) recipes I have published on the blog, and made a separate page for them. Wheeeeee! Check it out!

Now I want to make other pages... probably one dedicated to Wombat (mom), maybe one with first grade resources...? Hmmmmm, we'll see where creativity (such as it is) takes me.

Maybe, perhaps...

I might revive the blog. I have missed it. I stopped in January because after losing the Wombat and dragging through the holidays, I just didn't have the energy or motivation.  Some things happened that made me feel the need to password-protect the blog, and then it wasn't fun anymore (too hard for people to read it).  So a few months have passed, and I have realized that I really DO miss it.  So no promises or anything, but maybe... perhaps... I might be able to sustain it again. I am un-protecting it in the hope that the formers problems will not re-occur, and that readers will return.

We'll start with a couple of photos from a hike we went on this weekend:

View of the desert and mountains.

Orange desert flowers.

Under construction!

We (Mr. Mamie and I) are working on my blog format - I really want to go to three columns! So partdon the dust while we attempt to get the code right, and while I try out a few different backgrounds.

I DO have photos for Project 365, and mitzvahs to post... stay tuned!

Hmmmmmm, should I?

Thinking of participating in this bloggy-world thing:

I know what goodie recipe I would share.

Changing Blog Theme

Yes, I changed the blog theme. It's fun to do that! The only problem is, the yellow I have used in the past for ingredients in recipes doesn't work very well with the new color scheme. However, it's hard to go back and change those unfortunate yeller words - sorry. You'll have to live with it for now. You can do it, I am confident!

Comments

Okay, I've gotten feedback that people were having difficulty leaving comments. Hopefully I have fixed that problem and now anyone should be able to leave a comments without having to have a Google ID. Try it and see what happens! If you still have problems, email me.
